The project aims to create a collaboration between American (director and choreographer) and Ukrainian artists (musicians, dancers, choreographer, VJ, scenographer).

Meredith Monk is a significant figure for the American culture of the second half of the XXth century. The creativity of the composer combines different musical styles: academic or avant-garde music, traditional folk music and various kind of arts. More than forty years, Meredith Monk creates performances that are the synthesis of vocal, dance, theater, and cinema.

The presented performance demonstrates a prominent direction of multidisciplinary projects that are in line with listeners’ and viewers’ requests for musical and dramatic performances. The project unites different artists: musicians, choreographers, actors etc.

The international format requires a joint stage production of the performance, an exchange of experience between American and Ukrainian artists. By invitation of the project manager Prikhodko Olga, both - director Tom Bogdan and choreographer Allison Easter who are the representatives of Meredith Monk / The House Foundation for the Art and the members of Meredith Monk Ensemble - will join the cooperation. The project involves leading Ukrainian artists: Vocal ensemble Alter Ratio (director: Olga Prikhodko), Sed Contra Ensemble (director: Andriy Merkel), jazz singer Nazgul Shukaeva, lighting designer and scenographer Dmytro Kostiminsky, video art, and VJ group “BlckBox”.

Besides the project presentation, there are workshops, open rehearsals, press conferences with all artists involved in performance.

The project may become a vivid cultural event on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the United States.

The performance is intended for a broad audience of contemporary art lovers: guests of GOGOLFest, fans of contemporary theatrical art, experts and critics of academic, avant-garde or alternative music.
